Time has definitely gotten away from me this month!  We are on the edge of wedding season here in Colorado, so my days have been full, but it is April 30, and I am desperately trying to get my flower of the month in while it is still April!  So here we go….this month’s flower is of course the lovely Tulip!

Everyday in Full Bloom

Being married to a Dutch man, I cannot escape the joy of Springtime tulips and I am okay with that.  There are many colors and shades of this beautiful flower…..yellow tulips symbolize cheerful thoughts, white convey forgiveness and purple represent royalty.   I have to be honest though, to me, seeing a tulip means one thing…. our cold snowy winter is over and sunny summer is on its way!  The season for tulips is springtime March-May (depending on your location).  This is when they will be the easiest and most affordable to get.  Luckily this is also when weather gets nice and we can have outdoor parties, events, and weddings!  If you are thinking about using tulips here are some fun tips:

Hydrangea’s for your event!

I love hydrangeas!  They are such a full flower….almost a bouquet in and of themselves.  The colors are stunning and the options are endless, which is why they are such a popular flower.  If you are considering hydrangeas for your event decorating needs, here is the scoop!

The season for hydrangeas is early Spring to late Fall.   Really perfect timing for the busy wedding season and outdoor parties.  The most common hydrangea color is white, but do not fear, they also come in blue, red, pink, light purple, dark purple and even antique looking jewel tones.  Used in centerpieces with water, hydrangea’s can last 4-7 days.  However, if you are using cut hydrangeas for your bouquet, you should note they wilt faster than other flowers, often requiring a back-up bouquet (just in case).  Enjoy some lovely pictures below of hydrangeas being used in many different ways.  Happy Planning!

I have decided this year, (and a little late in the month) to feature a certain type of flower every month.  Flowers are a huge part of event design, decor, and overall feel.  Flowers come in truly EVERY color imaginable and there are hundreds of choices.  So where to begin?!?!?  Each flower has its own significance and meaning.  Choosing flowers that represent your beliefs, emotions, and feelings can be such a sweet way to make your event personal.  

In hopes of helping us all understand flowers better, I am going to feature a flower each month.  I will give you the meaning of that flower, pictures, and options for decor.  Even though February is almost over, and Valentine’s Day is past, I still want to feature the fabulous rose for this ever romantic month.

In truth, each color of a rose has a different meaning.  Roses come in almost every shade and color, except true blue and true black.  As one of the oldest flowers known, there are over 100 different species, so I will just cover a few.  But truly, the options are endless.

Honestly, I’m not sure why I am so drawn to this particular color palette these days.  Most of my life, I was void of all shades of pink.  But, somewhere in my 30’s, pink started creeping into my creative centers.  Now, here I am redecorating my office with grey, white, and fuchsia…..because it inspires me and I love it!  So, I thought I would share my newest muse with you, in case you are planning an event in this color palette and could use some of your own inspiration.  Enjoy!

Real Wedding: Jeremiah & Tiffany

Unique, fun, colorful, fun, beautiful, fun, relaxed, and fun are a few words I would use to describe the most lovable Jeremiah and Tiffany.  This endearing couple got married on a picture perfect day at Hudson Garden’s Monet Place.  We were surrounded with gorgeous gardens and vibrant pops of hot pink.  After a lovely ceremony, guests arrived at the trendy Artwork Network art gallery in Denver’s art district.  The evening was full of laughter, tears of joy, and of course, some serious celebrating.  Enjoy these fabulous pictures from the talented Kara Pearson Photography.

Real Wedding Sneak Peek:  Jeremiah & Tiffany
Beautiful, fun, and unique are the words for this wedding and this couple.   This ridiculously gorgeous couple married at Hudson Gardens and followed with a trendy reception in Denver’s art district.  Pinks, blues, whites, and lots of candlelight set the stage for a truly magical evening.  More to come on this couple with a full photo gallery later and vendor list,  but for now enjoy a sneak peek courtesy of Kara Pearson Photography.

Real Event: Brady & Jamie’s Rehearsal Dinner
I had the honor and joy of playing an outdoor rehearsal dinner for a most lovely couple!  They were married this past weekend at the beautiful Pine Hurst Country Club just south of Denver.  The night before the big event, 125 of the couple’s family and friends gathered at the groom’s grandmother’s home for a wonderful evening of love and celebration.  We had some fun adding a few unique touches, including a human statue that poured white wine, custom name tags in different colors/patterns for different families, baby Gerberas on napkins (the bride’s favorite), and a surprise dessert catered by Cold Stone (where the couple first met).  Ultimately, the night was a huge success because of the amazing people who took part.  It was such a joy to listen to all the toasts and love poured out from the couple and to the couple.  I count myself blessed every time someone invites me to share in their special moments.  I wish many years of love and joy to Brady & Jamie!  Congratulations!
